CLASS/ WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS
Viento Pilates Masterclass
Michael is known for his creative sessions where he explores Pilates based movement combinations together with unique music that blends the movements into flowing combinations. In this session Michael will teach his new choreography using new music providing you with the opportunity to try out and explore movement combinations and get creative.
Upgrade Your Teaching Skills (Workshop)
This workshop will help you to develop your skills as an instructor with visual, verbal and tactile cueing. One of the most important skills is observation and in this workshop we will look at how we can enhance these skills. Malcolm will help you practice observing the body before you so that you can better analyse and intuit what your client needs. As a Pilates Instructor you should be able to observe imbalances, tightness and weakness so that you can guide your client to be more balanced, functional, strong and mobile in all their movements.
Flow Disc Pilates (Workshop)
Michael will show you how using gliding discs can make an exciting addition to both classes and one-on-one sessions. They are well suited to the Pilates programme and in the workshop you will work through repertoire which can be adapted for different session types. The flow disc allows for smooth, fluid and graceful movement at the same time providing challenges in the movements for you and your clients. This small prop will broaden your range of movements whilst reducing your risk of injury. If you are looking for a challenging programme, you may have found your secret weapon.
Resistance Pilates Masterclass
Resistance - ‘the act or power of resisting, opposing, or withstanding.¨
Malcolm uses the svetlus bands to add challenge to his standing Pilates session. Time to take you off the mat with this upright and intense class, using movements from the Cadillac and Reformer as well as the Wunda Chair all in this creative session. As we live our lives upright it is essential that we apply the work we do on the Mat in a standing position.
Essential Pilates Masterclass
As a teacher of the Pilates Method your job is both a science and an art. You need to plan your class scientifically, including preparation, the main section and a closing. It is important to develop the art of engaging your clients—because if you can teach them to focus, to do more than just go through the motions, they will leave with a newfound sense of connection between mind, body and spirit. Malcolm leads you through this foundation class reminding you and your body the importance of this level of the method.
Mini Ball Plus (Workshop)
This challenging workshop, incorporates a 12-inch mini ball to create total-body strengthening and conditioning. These movements work on improving posture with a major focus on core stability and back mobility while also lengthening and strengthening the surrounding muscles. Using the MK Pilates Method and the six main Pilates principles you will learn how to add variety and fun to traditional matwork routines by creating sequences that can be adapted for all types of class levels.
Stability or Mobility (Workshop)
One of the goals of Pilates is to train our bodies to move efficiently with the activation of our centre so that we can move with more freedom and control. With todays lifestyles the body has different challenges so we need to look at what our clients need whether it is improved stability or increased mobility or a combination of both. Using the original goals of the traditional method this workshop will help you to think about how you can create movements which will help clients experience greater freedom as they move through various planes of motion.
Last Dance Masterclass
The finale…….Michael will finish the weekend with a celebratory Pilates masterclass with movement combinations that explores both standing and floor sequences. Michael is well known for his creative and fun sessions using great music and this session is a great way to finish these two days of exploration. Bring a towel and a dry tee-shirt ! you will need it.
