Twenty Five Years of Success

It has been twenty five years since NTC founder, John Sharkey first introduced a national qualification in the area of health fitness.

In September 1985 the Certificate in Exercise and Health Studies was introduced to Ireland by NTC founder, John Sharkey. In those early days, together with Paolo Adami, John was a founding member of the EAFA (European Aerobic Fitness Association) a forerunner to the now established European Health Fitness Association (EHFA).

The course offered in 1985 was the first such course in Ireland and attracted the interest of ANCO (predecessor to FÁS) reflecting the reputation that the course had attained in a very short space of time. The rest is history.

John's fingerprints can be found on every major development within the health fitness industry in ireland since that time.
