ILAM Issues Strong Statement
ILAM, the representative body for employers in the fitness industry has issued a strongly worded statement to offer clarity.
The statement, issued Friday September 23rd 2011 which concerns recent developments regarding the register for fitness professionals in Ireland states:
"ILAM recognises REPs Ireland as the National Register for Exercise Professionals in Ireland. We are issuing this statement on the back of the confusion caused by NCEF this week in announcing the establishment of Fitness Professionals Ireland (FPI) in conjunction with EREPS.
ILAM does not accept FPI as the National Register and strongly objects to the confusion caused by NCEF/EREPS.
We encourage ILAM members to register with REPs Ireland as it is recognised by ICREPS - the International Organisation representing Registers of Exercise Professionals. A country can only have one register recognised, so this development by NCEF is seen as divisive and destructive.
We are aware that REPs Ireland are in discussion with EREPS / EHFA to resolve the matter. "
