BSc. (Hons) Osteopathy Validation

The BSc (Hons) Osteopathy degree offered in Dublin by the Irish College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM) has now achieved full validation from The University of Chester.

The University commended the programme in a number of areas of the degree including;

    • The use of a unique and fit for purpose e-portfolio which adds strength to the programme and provides the student with a distinct advantage in their professional development.

    • Student support mechanisms to be employed in the clinic to enable the teaching to be focussed and relevant.

    • The unique proposals for the format and procedure of Clinical assessment in particular Final Clinical Assessment.

    • The inclusion of human dissection as a valuable learning tool.

    • The strong focus on supporting and ensuring that all staff delivering the programme are highly knowledgable and current in University and professional expectations.

The University of Chester validation committee noted that it was most unusual for a programme to receive five commendations and ICOM now looks forward to welcoming students for this historic and first ever BSC. (Hons) Osteopathy programme in Ireland, commencing in January 2012.
