OVERVIEW
Successful completion of this strength and conditioning training course will offer graduates the opportunity to prescribe safe and effective performance assisting exercise to athletes and the general public in either a team environment or on an individual one-to-one basis. 

As a graduate of this course you will have the key practical coaching skills to allow you add essential strength and conditioning skills and expand your role as a personal trainer and exercise coach. 

This strength and conditioning course is designed specifically for exercise professionals and personal trainers working in the commercial health fitness industry and will provide you with the knowledge and skills to teach bootcamp style strength and conditioning either in health clubs and fitness centres in an employed capacity, or in a self employed contract basis in sporting clubs etc.

Course Details

ELIGIBILITY
The National Qualification in Strength and Conditioning course is open to fitness professionals who hold a recognised, valid and current primary fitness instructor qualification accredited or mapped at EQF Level 3 or higher.

Not all primary fitness instructor qualifications meet the minimum standard required. If your primary fitness instructor qualification does not meet the requirements NTC will be unable to award a certificate for this programme, even if you have completed it, so if you have any doubt about whether your qualification meets the requirements please submit a copy of your primary fitness instructor qualification at least two weeks prior to the start date, or contact the NTC prior to enrollment.

This strength and conditioning course is scheduled over one month allowing time between tutorials for self directed learning and practice.  


LEARNING OUTCOMES 
On successful completion of this strength and conditioning training course you will have the skills and certification to:

  • Analyse and interpret functional movement patterns for optimal exercise performance and reduced risk of injury
  • Apply the principles of periodisation, conjugate method and multi-year training specific to strength and conditioning coaching
  • Perform and coach advanced weight lifting movements to include olympic lifts
  • Perform plyometric training techniques that will help improve power, strength and speed
  • Integrate assistant exercises to complement the strength and conditioning programme
  • Develop specific programmes to enhance your client's  performance while reducing their risk of injury 

ASSESSMENT 
There will be observed formative and summative practical assessment of Olympic lifts and plyometric exercises along with a multiple choice theory exam.


FEES 
The standard cost of the National Qualification in Strength and Conditioning course is €450.00. Graduates of National Training Centre fitness instructor and personal trainer courses get a 5% discount off fees.

Schedule and Locations

The course for the Dublin and surrounding area is held at the custom built strength and conditioning facility Boyneside Strength and Performance, Warehouse A, Merchants Quay, Drogheda, Co Louth and runs on the following dates in 2017:


Module One - February 25th and 26th
Module Two - March 18th and 19th
Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm


Module One - May 13th and 14th
Module Two - June 10th and 11th
Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm


Module One - October 21 and 22nd
Module Two - November 18th and 19th 
Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm


The Cork course is held at the Mardyke Arena, UCC, Western Road, Cork and runs on the following date in 2017:


Module One - March 4th and 5th
Module Two - April 1st and 2nd
Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm


Module One - September 9th and 10th
Module Two - Ocotber 7th and 8th
Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 6pm
