This programme is designed to introduce the learner to the original Pilates Matwork repertoire of 34 movements along with extra and numerous modifications. The goal is to create a larger body of work to enable Instructors to progress their clients from the modified repertoire taught in Level 1, towards the more challenging and original repertoire.

This course provides the essential knowledge and skills you need to design and instruct effective and motivating group and personal training programmes for your clients.

All participants must hold the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Level 1 or equivalent.

Evidence of equivalent Pilates training and qualifications must be approved by the National Training Centre's Educational Committee prior to enrollment.

All Pilates Institute Ireland tutors are trained professionals with a vast amount of industry experience.

The tutors for this specific programme are respected authorities in the general area of Pilates instruction and, as with all NTC programmes, they are committed to providing the best possible learning experience and successful outcome for students.

Graduates of the National Qualification in Exercise, Health Studies and Personal Training will receive 150 CEUs (Continuing Educational Units) for their CPD obligations when they participate on the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Level 1.

Graduates of the National Qualification in Neuromuscular and Physical Therapy will receive 30 CEUs for their CPD obligations when they participate on the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Level 1.

The cost of the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Avanced course is €1,1,100.00. All course fees are non refundable and must be paid before the commencement of each course.

Places may be booked on payment of a non-refundable deposit of €475.00 with the balance of €625.00 due on or before the course start date.

The National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced covers all relevant areas including:

  • Advanced Anatomy and Physiology
  • Range of Motion and Muscle testing
  • Full repertoire of the 34 original Matwork Movements
  • Movement modifications and progressions
  • Client Appraisal and Motivational Interviewing
  • Programme prescription and progressive planning for groups and individuals
  • Postural analysis
  • Effective Communication and cueing skills.
  • Personal Training on a 1-2-1 basis and small groups.
  • Introduction of small equipment

Do I need to hold any other qualification in order to participate
on this programme ?

Yes. All participants must hold the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced or an equivalent primary Pilates qualification. Not all primary Pilates instructor qualifications meet the minimum standard required. If you have any doubt whether your qualification meets the requirements please contact the NTC prior to enrollment.


What will I be qualified to do when I complete this course successfully ?
On successful completion you will be fully qualified to deliver safe and effective Pilates instruction at an advanced level to groups of individuals or to use Pilates as a reahabilitative tool if you are already a qualified bodywork therapist or medic.

Will I need to get insurance ?
The National Training Centre's code of ethics insists that all NTC graduates who are actively working in the profession, hold a professional indemnity insurance policy which covers the instructor against legal action taken by a client as a result of an injury which was received when following instruction. Instructors who are working on private premises may also need to hold public liability insurance if such cover is not held by the owners of the premises.

How long does this course last ?
The National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced is available as five day programme.

How much does this course cost ?
The National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced costs €1,100.00.

Where is this course available ?
The National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced is delivered at the National Training Centre in Dublin.

How will I be assessed ?
Students of the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced will be required to submit a detailed case study paper to include a progressive Pilates programme for 5 clients or group classes and will also be required to complete a practical assessment . Following assessment students will be given feedback on their technical ability on 15 movements from the original repertoire.

What age group participate on this course ?
Students of all ages participate on the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced.

What is the success rate ?
Between approximately 85% and 90% of students participating on the National Qualification in Pilates Matwork Advanced will be successfully examined at the first attempt.

Can I pay by installments ?
No - there is no installment payment option available for this programme.

The Dublin weekend course takes place on the following dates in 2010

Friday March 5th, Saturday March 6th and Sunday March 7th from 10:00 to 17:00 each day.

MODULE 2
Saturday April 10th and Sunday April 11th from 10:00 to 17:00 each day.

Friday September 24th, Saturday
September 25th and Sunday September 26th from 10:00 to 17:00 each day.
